Website Checklist: 15 Things Every Business Site Needs
Craftnor · 5 February 2026 · 5 min read
No theory. Open your site on a phone and work down the list.
The list
Every item here has a direct effect on whether a stranger contacts you.
- A headline that names the visitor's problem, not your founding year
- One primary call-to-action, repeated, never competing with a second
- Phone and email visible without scrolling on mobile
- Loads in under 2 seconds on a mobile connection
- One H1 per page and a sensible heading structure
- Named testimonials with company and location
- At least one number proving an outcome
- Pricing guidance, even if only a range
- A clear explanation of what happens after enquiry
- Forms with four fields or fewer
- Real photography or screenshots, not stock
- Accessible contrast on every text and background pair
- Working links, no orphan pages, a real 404
- Analytics and form-submission tracking that someone reads
- A visible response-time promise
“Most sites fail four or five of these, and every failure has a cost attached.”
